Annual museum visits
The history of Formentera can be experienced firsthand through a visit to the Ethnographic Collection of Formentera, located in the municipality of Sant Francesc. The Torre des Pi Català, one of the defensive towers that still watch over the island of Formentera today, is located on Migjorn beach in the Ca Marí area. The La Mola Lighthouse Museum, located on the grounds of the lighthouse itself, is a complete interpretation center regarding the importance of lighthouses and the history of Formentera; it was inaugurated in July 2019 and, during the season between July and September 2019, it received a total of 15,170 visits from residents and tourists. During the open house week, 8,000 people visited the museum. And finally, the Molí Vell de la Mola, located in the municipality of El Pilar de la Mola. The latter was managed by the Illes Balears Foundation until July 2020, but the Island Council of Formentera acquired its responsibilities in August 2020.
